Thank you for visiting Siloam Eye Hospital

Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting our website. My name is Sun-Tae Kim and I am a Presbyterian pastor—it is a great pleasure for me to introduce the Siloam Eye Hospital, a lifelong dream I was fortunate enough to realize after losing my eyesight during the Korean War.

Siloam Eye Hospital is a medical institution founded by the grace of God. It is a hospital devoted to medical missions work. Following Christ’s example of love and healing, the Siloam Eye Hospital aims to bring Light—through free eye treatment, blindness prevention, and eyesight-recovery operations—to those suffering at home and abroad.

Siloam Eye Hospital is greatly indebted to those many ‘partners’ who have continuously supported us with your prayers and financial support. We express our sincere gratitude to the Korean Church and our many patrons that have given unconditionally as you have allowed us to develop and become more effective.

The Siloam Eye Hospital is a sister organization cooperating with Yonsei University’s Severence Hospital. We are proud that the Ministry of Health & Welfare has certified us as a First-Rate Medical Institution, and has officially recognized Siloam as a state-of-the-art Hospital Specializing in Ophthalmology, and also awarded us as an outstanding Resident Training Hospital. We are a hospital striving to not only illuminate the physical eyes of patients, but the mental and spiritual as well.

Our medical organization spans many buildings—including our 8-storey main Siloam Eye Hospital, an academic Research Center, our Lighthouse Building / Nightingale Memorial Hall dormitory, Siloam Eye Center, and even the Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital—a converted 46-passenger limousine bus with an operating room—sent out on weekly mission trips to rural areas.

Our hospital is dedicated to research and developing new treatment methods for intractable eye diseases that are difficult to cure with modern medicine—publishing more than 10 papers a year in domestic and foreign academic journals. It is a hospital that brings the Light to those without the means to maintain proper eye health—as a work of medical missions we provide eye care, blindness prevention and treatment, and even eyesight-recovery operations for free to the underprivileged.

It is my deep desire that all of you ‘partners’ might come to regard us as family, as we wish to reciprocate the kind prayers and generous support you have given, with our love and professionalism. We sincerely hope that you will become lasting partners in our mission to bring the Light of Hope to those of the world suffering in Darkness.

I pray that God’s grace and love will abundantly bless your family and home.

Yours in Christ,
Rev. Sun-Tae Kim
