MEDICAL MISSIONS

“Siloam will Lead the Way”
Raising Medical Standards & Social Awareness.

INTRODUCTION

Since our inception, philanthropy and medical missions outreach has been a cornerstone of the Siloam Eye Hospital. Our aim has always been to provide the highest quality eye care, treatment & blindness prevention, as well as eyesight-recovery operations to those without the means or access to medical care living in Korea as well as abroad in underdeveloped countries. Since 1988 we have regularly sent out the Siloam Medical Missions Team to rural areas and remote islands throughout Korea—stopping at churches, orphanages, correctional facilities, prisons, schools for the blind, homes for the elderly, poor neighborhoods, fishing villages, and rural schools. From 1987 to 2019, the Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital has been sent out on over 1,000 trips; treating over 230,000 patients and performing over 5,000 successful eyesight recovery operations for free.

Since 1987, we have focused our medical missions outreach beyond Korea—to bring the light to the blind and visually impaired suffering in developing countries with poor medical conditions. Our Siloam Medical Mission Trips have dispatched our team of trained doctors and specialists to neighboring countries like China, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Laos, and Cambodia—and even as far away as Tanzania and Kenya. Moreover, we have established a cooperative relationship with hospitals in various developing countries providing training to their medical staff and also donating much needed medical equipment. From 1987 to 2020, our Siloam Medical Missions Team has been sent out on over 40 trips abroad; treating over 6,300 patients and performing over 1,500 successful eyesight recovery operations for free.
