OVERVIEW
The Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital was established in 1996 to reach out to those living in the rural areas and remote islands of Korea to assist those who do not have access or means to proper eyecare.
The Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital is a converted 46-passenger bus donated by the Samsung corporation for extended trips to rural areas, and also a minibus utilized for short trips to the outer Seoul suburban areas.
Each of our Siloam Medical Missions teams is comprised of a skilled team of 10 specialists :
6 ophthalmologists, optometrists & nurses, 3 social workers & administrative staff, 1 counsellor / Christian pastor.
The Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital is sent out on weekly mission trips to various churches, orphanages, correctional facilities, prisons, homes for the elderly, poor neighborhoods, fishing villages, and rural schools to administer free preventive treatment to maintain eye health as well as to provide free eyesight recovery operations in our converted 46-passenger bus fully equipped for surgical procedures.
For the past 33 years, the Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital has been dispatched an average of 33 mission trips a year to ensure that those in need—even those in the remotest parts of Korea—are provided quality eyecare for free. The areas we reach out to are:
