1980~1989

1981, Dec. Charity concert for the blind organized by the Siloam Mothers’ Association lead to the awareness of the need for a specialized hospital solely dedicated to administering to the blind and visually impaired in Korea.
1982, Apr. Official Board formed to oversee the establishment of a modern hospital in Seoul specializing in eye care & state-of-the-art surgery for the blind and visually impaired living in Korea.
1985, May. Completion of the first Siloam Eye Hospital comprising of 3 Floors and 1 Basement in Seoul. Total area measuring 1382 meters squared, or 418 pyeong. Siloam Eye Hospital officially registered as a legal Medical Corporation.
1986, Feb. Opening of the Siloam Eye Hospital.
1987, Feb. Dispatched Siloam Medical Missions Team to treat the blind and visually impaired in Bangladesh, setting a precedent of reaching out to our less fortunate neighboring countries.
1987, Oct. Addition of an expanded 4th Floor to the Siloam Eye Hospital. Total area measuring 1712 meters squared, or 518 pyeong.
1988, May. Dispatched Siloam Medical Treatment Team to AeYang Rehabilitation Hospital in Yeosu, setting the precedent of reaching out to the blind and visually impaired living in rural areas without access to proper eye care.

1991~1995

1991, Jul. Dispatched Siloam Medical Missions Team to Yangji, China

1994, Mar. Dispatched Siloam Medical Missions Team to Baguio, Philippines
1994, Aug. Inauguration of Song-Jun Do as Siloam’s 3rd Hospital Director

1995, Mar. Received donation of a 9-passenger Van from the Seoul Broadcasting Station, to be used for medical missions.
1995, Mar. Start of Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital Program providing free eye care & treatment in rural and island areas.

1996

1996, Mar. Commemoration of Siloam’s 10th anniversary and held donation ceremony of the 1st Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital—a 46-passenger bus converted into a mobile eye clinic & operating room—generously given by Samsung.
1996, Sep. Start of Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital program

1997

1997, Feb. Dispatched Siloam Medical Missions Team to Yanbian University Welfare Hospital in Yanji City, China
1997, Nov. Rev. Kwak Sun-Hee inaugurated as Chairman of the Board
1997, Nov. Completion of House of Light in Siloam

1998

1998, Feb. Inauguration of Kwang-Hwe Kim as Hospital Director, cooperative agreement signed with Yonsei University College of Medicine, and various Ophthalmology/Otolaryngology hospitals.
1998, Jun. Rev. Sun-Tae Kim awarded the Ho-Am Prize for Community Service
1998, Nov. 1st Lee Seong-Chul Medical Center inaugurated
1998, Nov. Agreement signed with Yangcheon District Health Center to offer free eye treatment & surgery

1999

1999, Mar. Department of Internal Medicine opens with Dr. Kang-Hyeon Ahn overseeing the new department
1999, Sep. Opening of Siloam Eye Center in Yanji, China
1999, Nov. Designated Outstanding Resident Training Hospital by the Ministry of Health & Welfare

2000~2004

2000, Oct. Dispatched Siloam Medical Missions Team to Nairobi, Kenya, Africa
2000, Oct. Rev. Sun-Tae Kim awarded honorary PhD from Soongsil Graduate School

2001, Mar. Siloam’s 15th Anniversary Ceremony and Inauguration of Dr. Hong-Bok Kim as Siloam’s Hospital Director

2002, Apr. Fundraising charity concert performance at Yonsei University’s 100th Anniversary Concert Hall

2003, Dec. 2nd Siloam Mobile Eye Hospital [ Medical Bus ] Donation Ceremony also generously given by Samsung SDI
